Based in Manhattan, Kansas, Karl Kandt helps service members, veterans, and their families convert military experience into civilian career success. As a veterans’ employment representative with the State of Kansas, he provides one-on-one guidance in career planning, targeted job search strategies, resume development, and interview preparation, and connects clients with vetted employment referrals. He collaborates with workforce partners and employer coalitions to expand outreach, routinely participating in hiring fairs and resource events to showcase opportunities across high-demand sectors. Recognized for impact, he received the Kansas Department of Commerce Employee of the Quarter honor in 2023.
Mr. Kandt previously served as a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs vocational rehabilitation counselor, ensuring participants understood their benefits, progressed through training, and secured outcomes aligned with their goals. He leverages a strong grasp of labor-market trends and regional hiring needs to coach clients on in-demand skills and credentials.
Karl’s background also includes managing cattle and farming operations, which informs his practical approach to work readiness and rural employment pathways. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in communication and a Master’s in counselor education from Emporia State University, followed by a Master’s in sports administration from Wichita State University. Active in the community, he supports the Manhattan Solar Kiwanis Club and children’s charities, and participates in Emporia State alumni and president’s clubs as well as the Manhattan High School Alumni Association.
